    Food Web Vocabulary

    Case 2

    Producer
    Organisms that create their own food.
    Plants
    Use sunlight, carbon dioxide, and water
    to create glucose(sugar) and oxygen

    Consumer
    Organisms that cannot create their own
    food.
    They need to consume ( eat) plants and /
    or animals

    Decomposer
    A type of consumer that gets its food by
    breaking down animal wastes and
    remains of dead plants and animals
    Bacteria and Fungi
    Release nutrients and mineral salts back
    into the soil for plants

    Predator
    An animal that feeds on other living
    animals

    Prey
    The animals predators eat
