Integrating Instructional Technology of the Comprehensive Classroom Technology Plan
There are some who may question whether or not technology should be incorporated into
elementary classes. While there are many pros and cons to this question, the focus of this essay is
on the pros. There are three main pros and two technological aspects that will be addressed.
Technology increases motivation, reinforces skills, and encourages collaboration. Two types of
technology I plan to integrate in my Kindergarten classroom are iPads and Powerpoints.
There are so many technological devices today that are easily attainable. Children as young as
one already know how to hack into iPhone and find the apps they want. So by the time they
reach Kindergarten age, technology has become such an integral part of their life that it seems that
the next best teaching method is to add technology into classes. It easily grasps kids attention. Be
it games, educational apps, stories, eye catching power points. One piece of technology I plan on
using is the iPad. It is an easy tool to for them to use and there is a lot of integrational apps that
can used as well. During their break time I can have them use subject game apps or during a
lesson I can have them follow through on an interactive Powerpoint I set up for them. There are
numerous apps that allow for electronic quizzes, submissions, and supervision. This means that
academic processes can be more quickly assessed or analyzed. Apps can score multiple-choice
quizzes immediately and post results. (Teach hub, 2015). For those reasons and the fact that the
students can still learn various skills on technology, I would want to use the ipad.
Another very helpful Webtool is Powerpoints. A lot of interesting pictures, facts, animations, and
sound effects can all be added to make it more interesting. In addition to providing (and

provoking) questions, which can enliven your lectures, PowerPoint can actually improve notetaking abilities.Rather than becoming stenographers, feeling compelled to write down every
word, students can be asked to note and work with information in an active way. They can
synthesize material and spend less time reciting, in written form, the content of the lecture
(University of Minnesota, 2008). This is saves the teacher a lot of time and give them more time
to focus more on the students needs.
Besides increasing motivation and reinforcing skills, technology also encourages collaboration.
There are various sites that students can log into where they need another student to join a game
with them or there are various activities they can do online where they need to compare results
with other students. This also helps reinforce skills such as fairness, constructive criticism, and
many other skills. Rather than the teacher always being there to reinforce teamwork, the teacher
can now observe how the students interact with each other and who needs more help than the
others. The students also become motivated to work better with their peers when they realize that
it benefits them also. To wrap it all up, in the words of U.S. Senator Nancy Kaussebaum, "There
can be infinite uses of the computer and of new age technology, but if the teachers themselves are
not able to bring it into the classroom and make it work, then it fails (Slideshare, 2015). As a
future teacher, I am determined to incorporate various technological aspects to make class more
interesting and exciting for my students, plus prepare them for their fast tech future.
