The following classes will be held at San

Jacinto College Central Campus.


Students must ride a bus from a PISD
high school to San Jac each day.
The classes will take place Monday
Friday, June 14-18.
Students may choose one course.

Computer Technology

Interior Design

Learn how to build a PC and install an operating


system.

Students will develop a space plan to include


furniture layout, furniture selections, textile
selections, board preparation & presentation,
and an isometric drawing of the space.

Cosmetology
This class is ideal for students who are interested
in studying cosmetology. Students will learn
about hair color and nails during the program.

Art

Criminal Justice

Forms of art include: painting, drawing,


sculpture, printmaking, and much more.

This class is ideal for students who are interested


in careers such as police officer, criminal
investigator, FBI agent or lawyer.

Automotive Technology
Students will begin to learn the details of
working on engines and what it really takes to
become an auto technician.

Child Development & Education


Students receive classroom instruction and
learn to plan and direct lessons and activities,
prepare instructional materials and complete
other responsibilities of teachers.

Engineering Design Graphics


Students will begin to learn how to use a drafting
board, make 2D and 3D drawings, and use the Auto
CAD program.

Gaming/Physical Education
Come explore the world of fitness and how your
body works. You will participate in a wide variety of
activities relating to the human body and how it
functions. All fitness levels are welcomed.

Geology & Paleontology


Topics include geologic time, fossils, and the
paleogeography of the Earth. Some of the labs
may include a fossil dig as well as basic rock and
mineral labs.

Journalism/Broadcasting
Students will be introduced to the exciting and
rewarding world of interviewing for, writing
about, and reporting the news in its various
formats. Students will have the opportunity to
create an original newspaper and produce and
edit a broadcast news program.

Rockets, Robots, & Rollercoasters


This course is a mixture of science, technology,
engineering, and mathematics and their
interrelationships. Students will build
prototypes or use simulation software to test
their designs.

Small Engine Repair


Students will be exposed to welding techniques
and minor automotive maintenance.

Welding
Students will learn welding techniques and
career opportunities as a welder.

Remember
to attend GEAR UP summer
programs you must pass all of
your classes and not be required
to attend PISD summer school.
Students who must attend
PISD summer school for credit
recovery may not attend these
programs.

Central Campus
Students will be picked up from their high
school and taken to San Jacinto College
Central.
Information about pick-up locations and times
will be provided for students who participate in
GEAR UP Summer Camp.
