    This project investigated the effects of magnesium sulfate on breast cancer cells. MCF-7 breast cancer cells were treated with different concentrations of magnesium sulfate and cultured. Cell viability was then measured after 24 hours. However, the results were inconclusive as the viability of the cells could not be determined. While no conclusions could be drawn, the inconclusive results could motivate further research on the effects of magnesium sulfate and other nutrients on cancer cell growth.

    Trypsinizecellsandincubateforabout10minutes.Centrifugeandresuspendcells.
    Plating:

    Insert80uLofmagnesiumsulfatesolutionand80uLofmediaintorowA,wells18ofa96wellmicroplate.Insert40uLofMgSO

    solutionand120uLofmediaintorowB,wells18ofa96wellmicroplate.Insert160uLofculturedcellsintorowAandB,wells18ofthe
    microplate.Putthewellplateintotheincubatorandincubatefor24hours.Repeatthisprocedurewiththefollowingamounts:RowC:120uL

    Conclusion:
    Thehypothesiscouldnotbesupportedorrefutedbecausetheviabilityofthecellscouldnotbedetermined.Inconclusiveresults,
    however,stillhavethepotentialtomotivatefurtherresearch.
