11. A. Draw the block diagram of an electric drive and explain in detail about major part of electric drives
system.
B. How do you determine the rating of motor for various duty cycles of load time variations?
12. A. Give the steady state and transient analysis of 3 phase fully controlled converter fed separately excited
DC motor in detail with necessary waveforms and equations.
B. A. 250 V, separately excited DC motor has an armature resistance of 2.5 ohm. When driving a load at
600 rpm with constant torque, the armature takes 20 A. This motor is controlled by a chopper circuit with a
frequency of 400Hz and an input voltage of 250 V.
(i) What should be the value of duty ratio if one desire to reduce the speed from 600 to 400 rpm, with the
torque maintained constant?
(ii) What should be the minimum value of the armature inductance, if maxim armature current ripple
expressed as percentage of the rated current, is not to exceed 10%?
