Clinical Practice
In the hospital, I have worked as a ward clerk and a
clinical assistant

Ward Clerk- As a ward clerk, I assisted

physicians and registered nurses in providing
health care services through clerical and
computer support.
Clinical Assistant- As a clinical assistant, I
assisted with the duties of a ward clerk as
mentioned above as well as assisting patients to
care for themselves (feeding, bathing, cleaning),
monitor vital signs, checking blood glucose
levels, and assisting the nurse with tasks such as
wound care changes, discontinuing foley
catheters, etc.

Leadership

Summer Tennis Camp Leader- Previous to my

healthcare experiences, I volunteered over a
few summers to serve as a group leader
during a 7-day tennis camp. This taught me
the importance of reliability, accountability,
teamwork, and delegation.

Nursing school has also contributed to my hospital

experience and helped me to become familiar with a
different set of skills.

I have gained a range of skills and knowledge

through classroom lectures, lab training, and
clinical performances during nursing school.
Under the supervision of clinical instructors, I
was able to provide safe and competent care,
learn to access and document in patient charts,
and perform hands on skills such as head to toe
assessments, inserting and discontinuing foley
catheters, safe administration of medications
(PO, SUBQ, IV, IVPB), NP suctioning, wound
care, patient comfort, and patient/family

education.
Experienced with EPIC Hyperspace and Carelink
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel,

Licensed Practical Nurse

Knowledge (Pathophysiology/Pharmacology)In order to become the prudent nurse I seek to be,

improving my pathophysiology and
pharmacology is imperative. Having a strong
background in these areas will have a direct
affect on the patients I care for and the care that
will be provided to them.
Critical Thinking- Through experience, I hope to
gain the qualities and wisdom of an astute nurse
and be able to demonstrate this through the safe
and competent care I will be providing to my
patients.
Physical/Mental Health- Nursing is both
physically and mentally demanding, and though
most of my time is spent taking care of other
people, I need to make sure that my needs are not
neglected in order to continue to do so in a safe
and effective manner. Going to school full time
and working part time has definitely had an
impact on my eating habits. Hopefully after
graduation, Ill have more time to focus on
myself and have a chance to get my health back
on track by eating healthier and incorporating a
workout routine into my daily agenda.

Assertiveness- To be a competent leader, I

feel one needs to acquire a sense of
assertiveness. Knowing when and how to be
assertive is something I would like to improve
on.
Competency- Healthcare is always changing,
so by maintaining my skills and reviewing
and updating my evidenced based knowledge,
I can be sure to keep up with the times and
maintain competency.

Complete my RN-BSN
degree within 2 years of
graduating from KCC
Attend conferences and
obtain certifications that
will enhance my
professional growth.
