Human Rights Project

World Studies Spring Semester 2015

Overview
You will investigate the evolution of one specific human right from the United Nations Universal Declaration
of Human Rights in a particular country. You will write a research paper that traces the historical roots of the
human right to the present day in your country. You will include information and analysis of how other
countries have tried to promote this human right and whether or not those responses would be appropriate in
your country. Then, you will propose realistic and actionable recommendations that your country could use to
actualize the human right. Lastly, you will present your research and recommendations to your classmates
through a TED Talk video. Throughout this project, you will be engaged in peer-to-peer learning and will be
giving and receiving feedback through a peer student panel.
