INDUSTRY TRENDS
During these times of global uncertainty, fluctuating oil prices and reduced margins, it is more important
than ever to maintain existing plants and equipment with minimum investment. In todays environment, Oil,
Gas and Power plants face a unique problem when it comes to managing the work and costs associated with
Shutdowns, Turnarounds and Outages projects.
Historically, there was a tendency among operating companies to view turnarounds as an inevitable and
necessary evil, and to accept that they would cost what they cost and take as long as they take. However,
in recent years, there has been a growing recognition that this attitude leaves money on the table in the
form of the opportunity cost of lost production while the facility is shut down for longer than necessary;
and unnecessarily excessive expenditure of money during the turnaround, through running the turnaround
inefficiently.
Conventional scheduling systems, methods and processes have many shortcomings when it comes to
handling the increasing complexity and demands of todays projects. Coming up with a good schedule is a
stern challenge in and of itself as it must provide a flexible navigation system to support the team throughout
the execution phase. Project managers need to know the upto- date project status at all times, warn against
threatening risks and find the ideal path, even though this changes from day to day. This requires tools that
enable an immediate response, and this is what a good schedule is for.
DAY 2 (MAIN CONFERENCE) This day of the event will highlight some path breaking technologies that are
driving the complete cycle of plant shutdowns and turnarounds towards safety and efficiency.
Thoughtfully designed to encourage you to look outside of your company and industry, Plant Shutdown and
Turnaround Forum will be a gathering where maintenance, reliability and shutdown professionals will engage
in important conversations, find answers to common challenges and inspire one another to explore future
opportunities

Workshops
email: tanaya.priya@fleminggulf.com
9.00 Workshop A: Preparing production equipment, process equipment, benzene, LEL and H2S
contaminated equipment for safer and faster maintenance
Explore a unique decontamination method for freeing refinery and petrochemical plants, vessels and lines of
several common hazardous materials in order to make these vessels safe for personnel entry
Examine why the ability to deal with so many contaminations as a part of one application
promotes both speed and safety and provides numerous benefits
Investigate how the method presented is able to reduce cost, reduce personnel risk, reduce pyrophoric risks
to vessels, reduce cleaning and decontamination time and promote environmentally-sensitive methods as
viable choices for hazard reduction
Discover that these goals can be achieved in greatly reduced time compared to conventional technologies,
providing significant cost benefits to the operator
12.30 Luncheon
14.00 Workshop B: Inspection and technical assistance during Turnarounds
Ensure safe and reliable operations as well as compliance with local and international regulations
Minimize costly downtime and lost production with reduced facility turnaround inspection time and costs
