CHAMBER STRATEGY

Mission Statement:
To achieve a Chamber that adds value to its members, supports the
local economy and is seen as a leader in local business matters.
Objectives & Outcomes:
Following are four objectives and outcomes to be achieved over the
coming year.
1. (Fully Operational) - To create a stable and well balanced Chamber
built around its web presence as its main focal point and point of
contact.
2. (Quality meetings) - To make sure all meetings are added value,
worthwhile, interesting, inventive, supportive and enjoyable for our
members to attend.
3. (Membership Recruitment) - Look to increase our profile, build our
membership to include a bigger and wider audience and encourage
some of the bigger companies to become involved.
4. (Income Generation) - Create a better income stream to support our
Business Manager and the Chamber.
Following is a brief action plan setting out the four objectives as above,
which we need to set time scales and objectives to achieve.

3. (Membership Recruitment)
To increase membership to a wider and more enterprising audience,
once the Chamber has achieved the fully operational and quality
meetings objectives above.
To achieve a more positive approach to a wide and varied subject I
propose that we split membership into the following categories:
SMEs: (Small & Medium Enterprises)
LE (Large Enterprises)
The split is quite obvious with the LE being your Tesco/
Aspire/Sodexo/The Garrison/Schools? /etc
The SMEs being most of the local smaller businesses.
The targeting of the two types would in the main be similar but with a
more dedicated approach to the LEs and a more broad brush approach
to the SMEs bearing in mind they are all important. I propose we
have two different teams dealing with the challenge one dedicated to
the on the ground SMEs and another at a more strategic level. In many
instances these two teams will intermix as the developing strategy is
perused and certainly everybody has their part to play. Following is the
original strategy ideas, these now need reviewing, adopting and
creating into a strategy to set up to achieve our objectives.
Invite some key stakeholder to come and give a talk at some of
our breakfast meetings and encourage them to join the
Chamber.

4. (Income Generation)
Identify ways to support and create an income for the Chamber and
Business Manager. Presuming the above increases our membership
income we need to find a way to create some additional income to
support the above objectives.
Keep our Business Managers time linked to recruitment as much
as possible.
Review ideas to creating an income stream for the Chamber?
Review what grants and support we can find to assist with the
above?
We need a brainstorming session where we could invite some key
stakeholders/players to review any ideas? Review a way forward?
