ABSTRACT
The Salt Range area and Kallar kahar have very important geologic and paleotological localities
in Pakistan, they come under UPPER INDUS BASIN and mostly constitute the eastern part of
the Basin. They are the most educational and outstanding fields that preserves the remanats of
the past history. It is the one of the most interesting field for understanding the geologic history
of Pakistan. Due to its multiple transportation routes and easy accessibility it has attracted many
geologists, geophysicists, mineraologist, tourists and many students from all over the world to
study different geological and stratigraphical features of these areas. These areas have exposed
geology and it is like an open book of geology where various richly fossiliferous stratified rocks
are very well exposed due to lack of vegetation. These rocks also provide great amount of
information for understanding the tectonics setting in the area.
