Aids/HIV Crisis in South

Africa!!!
Infection and Death Rates:
Dr. Lester R. Brown
South Africa - Another 6,011
Africans died today slightly
increasing the estimated average of
6,000 lives lost per day to HIV/Aids.
Average for infected per day
remains at 11,000. Estimates were
made on the 24 million Africans
infected in 2000 stating that all of
them will die before 2010.
Scientists have concluded that
more Africans have died from
HIV/Aids in 1999 to 2000 than in all
the wars on the continent.
Unfortunately mortality rates are
increasing above life expectancy
rates.

and Zimbabwe.
Economic Crisis:
Dr. Ayomide Baako
Zimbabwe Democracy and
Economic Recovery Act - The
bill was officially introduced today
by Us Senator Russ Feingold.
Fortunate news for Zimbabwe as
the new act will allow peaceful,
democratic change, achieve
equitable economic growth, and
restore the rule of law. Prior to
2000, agriculture was the
backbone of Zimbabwes economy.
As we all know, land owned by
black Zimbabweans was mostly
infertile while white Zimbabweans
owned mostly fertile land. The
Economy and Recovery Act is a
good recovery from the Land
Acquisition Act of 2000 which only
led to violence and failure.

All About TAC

Treatment Action Campaign
Cape Town - Since 1998, TAC
(Treatment Action Campaign), cofounded by HIV positive Zackie
Achmat, has been striving to
increase access to treatment, care,
and support services to those living
with HIV. TAC is also striving to
decrease infection rates. Now, TAC
is doing better than ever. Another
TAC event will be held on March
24th at 12:00 pm in Cape Town. All
are welcome to attend. With this
rate, there is no doubt that the
Treatment Action Campaign is on
its way to a Nobel Peace Prize.
