Be Part of Alzheimer Scotland's Election 2015 Pledge On Dementia
Be Part of Alzheimer Scotland's Election 2015 Pledge On Dementia
Whats it about? - On 7 May 2015 the people of Scotland will vote for the 59 MPs they want to
represent Scottish constituencies in Westminster. Before that, Alzheimer Scotland is asking
Scotlands election candidates to pledge their support for the 90,000 people in Scotland who are
living with dementia.
Why? - As the number of people living with dementia in Scotland continues to rise, Alzheimer
Scotland has set out a clear vision of the ongoing change required to properly support them, their
families and their carers.
People with dementia have the same human rights as every other person. These include the right
to be fully included in their community and, when needed, to timely, skilled and well-co-ordinated,
care, support and treatment, at home, in hospital or any other setting.
By ensuring that the rights of people living with dementia are fully recognised, throughout the
illness, we can avoid the enormous human, social and financial costs of crisis-driven care.
These are all areas where Scottish MPs can have an important impact as they carry
out their roles in their constituencies and in Westminster.
