CHAPTER 5

CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

The first objective of research study was aimed to determine the efficiency of removal
of copper (II) from water by adsorption using of rambutan peels and seeds. Rambutan seeds
have higher potential efficiency than peels in removal of copper from waste water. This is
based on adsorption capacity value as mentioned in comparison of Langmuir isotherm
between peel and seed adsorbents data.
The second objective was aimed to examine the equilibrium adsorption of copper (II)
by rambutan peels and seeds. Based on comparison of linear regression of both adsorption
isotherms, the results indicate that the Langmuir model yields a better fit for the experimental
equilibrium adsorption data than the Freundlich model.
The last objective was aimed to examine kinetics adsorption of copper (II) by
rambutan peels and seeds. The pseudo first order, pseudo second order, and intraparticle
diffusion kinetic models were analyzed for the adsorption of copper by rambutan peel and
seed adsorbents. Based on these three kinetic models, it proved that pseudo-second order
model provides the best correlation for kinetic adsorption system studied.
