Spring Book Fair Nets a Great Catch!

Our D.C. families have once again
provided great support for Delta
Center readers through their
patronage at our Book Fair! The
students enjoyed the undersea theme,
estimation game, gift certificate
drawings, door prizes, craft projects,
book signing by author Deborah
Diesen, exposure to new books, and
sharing their excitement about
reading. D.C. families donated more than fifty-five books to
our classroom libraries, and our school library was able to
add 168 books directly from the Fair, plus order a set of
Early Readers, a set of biographies of historical figures, a set
of sport biographies, a set of social studies infographics
books, and a book binding repair machine! Our students
are soooo excited about the new books they are seeing
each time they come to the library. None of this would be
possible without the fantastic volunteer efforts of many of
our Delta Center families. We are so grateful for the
countless hours given by Co-Chairpersons, Bethany Skinner
and Avani Patel! Together, they were involved in the
planning, preparation, volunteer coordination, design,
decorating, set-up, game coordination, classroom previews,
cashiering, and take-down efforts for the Fair - virtually every
aspect of the event! The extraordinary artwork and craft
design of D.C.'s own Peggy Allen, incorporated
personalized artwork from each classroom in her amazing
Reading Month mural at the entrance to the library! She also
created the glittering treasure chest that beckoned to us
from the doorway! We are grateful for her generous
donation of time and talent to each of our reading
celebrations! Brianna Meyers shared her talent, ideas,
supplies and labor in helping create many of our
decorations, including the famed jellyfish that added so
much to our undersea experience! And Michelle LeBlanc
created yet another wonderful themed Classroom WishList
display! In addition, many of our D.C. parents helped with
various activities at the Fair: Sarah Anderson, Renee
Campbell, Chris Carlson, Bhavana Chandrayan, Kristie
Cutler, Michelle Dixon, Kristin Geller, Noelle Helmic, Sara
Jestila, Chris Lieb, Judy MacEachern, Allyson McCann, Kris
Purnhagen, Misty Reiber, Mary Russell, Julie Sample,
Heather Schlagel, Dominic Smith, Lisa Starks, and Sunita
Vinod, and Deborah Wright. Author, and member of the
Delta Center family, Mrs. Deborah Diesen-Miller donated
her time and effort to greet families and sign their Pout-Pout
Fish books at the Fair - Thank you! We also thank the Patel
and Skinner families and the D.C. fifth grade students who
created and decorated paper fish to add to our Fair
decorations. Our D.C. students will benefit from your
support of the Fair for years to come! Thank you to everyone
who participated in our Book Fair!
