Reflection 3510 Ethnographic Study of Family of Origin

This paper allowed me to identify with my family of origins culture and development
through conversations with family members and close friends. These conversations
created space for me to discover more of an understanding to certain behaviors in my
life and I was able to recognizing similarities from my parents and sibling. Through this
process I was able to establish more of a base for my personal values and from there I
was able to have a deeper self-awareness. This is an example of achievement of
competency 2.14 - Engage diversity and difference in practice. Due to this selfawareness I am now able to distinguish the difference between my personal values and
my professional values. as well as applying theory to certain scenarios from childhood.
Overall, through engaging with family members and evaluating our family unit as a
whole I was fulfilling competency 2.1.10 - Engage, assess, intervene and evaluate with
individuals, families, groups, organizations and communities.
