TRIBUTE IN MEMORY OF MRS EVELYN WALLER

On behalf of my family and myself, I wish to extend sincere condolences to the Waller family on the
passing of Mrs. Evelyn Waller-Brooks. We have been deeply saddened by her passing, particularly
as the Waller and Richards Family share a longstanding friendship of over four decades.
One great writer said, and I quote, Greatness is not found in possessions, power and prestige, it is
discovered in goodness, humility, service and character. This statement epitomizes the
characteristics of our dear, departed sister who was a loving, caring, honest and compassionate
lady. One whose kindness knew no bounds.
As a true child of God and a devoted Christian, she demonstrated an unwavering consciousness of
Gods truth and was always willing to share these not only in her church but with others.
As Vice Principal of Port Maria Secondary School, during my tenure as Principal, Mrs. WallerBrooks was not content to merely pass through, but gave yeoman service to the growth and
development of the school. A lover of children, she spared no effort in getting them to succeed.
Her diligence, dedication, level of commitment, sense of responsibility and willingness to work
beyond the call of duty were exemplary. A very versatile person, she did not hesitate to use her skill
in music to enhance the cultural aspect of the school.
As she served unstintingly in the field of education, she has impacted the lives of thousands of
Jamaican children who today are taking their rightful places nationally and internationally.
Mrs. Waller-Brooks did not pursue rewards or recognition for herself, hence her service continues
to be wholesome and a blessing to all. As a gentle woman, she loved and cherished her late husband
and her children. We remember the happy times we shared. No accolades are too precious to be
bestowed on her, although she cannot hear them. Today, we honor her memory with affection and
gratitude for a life well spent.
May her soul Rest in Peace and light perpetual shine upon her.
