April 6, 2015 To Whom It May Concern: Please accept this letter of recommendation for Megan Ahlquist. I am Michael Burke and an Assistant Principal at Prairie View High School. Megan is currently teaching ninth grade English and Creative Writing. Over the past school year I have watched as Megan has become more confident and poised in the classroom as a first year teacher. Working with ninth graders can be a challenge but Megan has grown greatly in motivating them and holding them accountable as they transition into the expectations of high school. She has built strong appropriate relationships with her students while sharing her passion for literature and the English Language Arts. Megan has a genuine concern and care for her students and is always thinking of ways to support them. Megan is incredibly talented in designing lessons with the integration of technology. Quite often she is exposing students and having them work with a vast array of different online tools to help them create and apply their thinking to projects and assignments. Her students have enjoyed her emphasis on using technology and feel more prepared for the growing need to interface with teachers in this way. I have been fortunate to have been able to work, coach and collaborate with Megan this school year. Although I would hate to lose her as part of our staff, I think she would be a valuable addition to any school/district as an educator. I feel that she will grow as a leader in an English Department and in a school. I give Megan my full recommendation without reservations. Please feel free to contact me if I can be of any assistance.
Sincerely,
Michael C. Burke Assistant Principal Prairie View High School (303) 655-8808
