1. Choose a poet from this list:

*dont spend too much time on this step, there are over 600 on the list!*
2. Take notes over the poets basic biographical information in your English
Notebook. Answer questions such as:
Who is my poet?
What happened in his/her life? What are some key events?
What historical events are connected to my poets life?
Who are some people who were important in my poets life?
What sort of personality did my poet have?
What was my poets poetry like? What did they write about? What

was unique about the poetry?


What motivated my poet?

3. Create a tagxedo (visual representation) of the poet. See examples and


directions below.
4. Finally, create a research-based poem, in the style of your choice, to
represent your poets life and works. You may choose to focus on a single
event, his or her writing style, or your poets life as a whole.
This assignment is DUE on Monday, April 13th.

Directions for Tagxedo.com:


1. Click create on top right of site
2. Open a word document and type all of the text you want into the doc
a. Make sure that you repeat words according to how often you want them

b. Highlight the text, right click, and then copy
Back in tagxedo, select load
Paste the words from your word doc into enter text, then click submit
Click the arrow to the right of Theme and select a color scheme for your image
Click the arrow to the right of Font and select a font for your image
Click the arrow to the right of Orientation to change the direction of the words

in your image
8. Click the arrow to the right of Shape to change the shape of your image
a. You may select a pre-loaded shape (there are quite a few) or you can load
one of your own
b. To create your own shape: select add image
c. Select a picture that you have saved

d. Play with threshold and blur until you are satisfied with the
appearance of your image, then click accept
