Paraphrasing: Kahlo contracted Polio at a very young age. Since medical
advancements weren't as great then, her growth was stunted and her foot was
affected.
Comment: From the help of her father she was able to get healthier and become
active again.

Paraphrasing: For most of Frida's life she stayed in her hometown in Mexico. She
lived with her parents, two older sisters, Matilde and Adriana, and her younger

students at the school.

Quotes: "Fridas condition was so grave doctors didnt believe they could save her.
They thought she would die on the operating table. Her spinal column was broken in

three places in the lumbar region. Her collarbone was broken and her third and
fourth ribs. Her right leg had eleven fractures and her right foot was dislocated and
crushed. Her left shoulder was out of joint, her pelvis broken in three places. The
steel handrail produced a deep abdominal wound, entering through the left hip and
exiting through the genitals. She convalesced for two years though she would never
fully recover."
Paraphrasing: Frida's accident left her severly injured. She suffered many wounds
and breaks. It was a miracle she survived with little medical advancements in her
time.

Paraphrasing: After spending time in Mexico City, Frida and Alex returned on a bus
to Coyoacan. The driver was passing in front of a street car and sadly didnt make it.
The crash was drastic.

Paraphrasing: Through she was severly injured during her accident, Frida was able
to recuperate and she remained positive. She continued painting because it helped

Comment: Frida's work was inspiring for women to find equality because of her
unique way of art, which was painting her self potraits. This gave women an icon for
female creativity.

Comment: Being one of the first women to find a career in art, Frida inspired
multiple new artists to come and created many famous art pieces. Painting was
good for her because it was a distraction from her accident and gave her a positive
career.

Comment: Even though Frida still struggled with her accident she perserved and still
was able to show case her art. Her art became very successful and became a way
to help her recover.
