For my field education seminar 1 I am choosing to reflect upon my agency report.

The
purpose of the report is to reflect upon the field placement setting, look at the mission of the
agency, provide an overview of who is served, to explore my role within the agency, and how
clients are serviced. This assignment helped to reflect on a semester at the agency and and to
reinforce what the students are learning with the populations they serve.
A course competency that this assignment met was 2.1.1- Identify as a professional social
worker and conduct oneself accordingly. By working one on one with populations and gaining
information for this paper students were able to advocate for clients and act as professional social
workers. This helped to analyze what boundaries were important and how to develop
professional behaviors. By using proper supervision, consultation and communication, students
were able to write about and use professional skills that will carry on into their careers.
When I was first writing this paper I was unsure of how much I was learning in my
agency. However, when I got to writing it I discovered that I had learned so much about the
agency, its mission, and the clients that they serve. I had gained many skills and could now start
to identify as a professional social worker. I leaned that by reflecting on all the things that I had
learned that I needed to not be so critical of my time at the agency. Writing the paper made me
feel as though I was a vital part to the operation and that I will be an asset in the future.
