Austin High Academy of Global Studies (AGS) 2010 2015


The Academy of Global Studies is one of the 13 programs in the US funded by the
Gates Foundation. AGS is an academic program involving interdisciplinary classes,
focusing on global perspectives and encourages an International understanding of
diversity of thought. Learning Expeditions travelled to Heifer International, Costa
Rica, Boston MA, and Turkey. Students apply and must be accepted in the AGS
program at Austin High School.

Ideal Waldemar Girl, 2013
The naming of the Ideal Waldemar Girl is voted on anonymously by the counselor
staff and given to the girl who best lives up to the ideals of Waldemar. Being named
Ideal Waldemar Girl is the highest honor a girl can receive during her camping years.

TGPLAN project for Academy of Global Studies (5 hours/6 weeks)
Student lead project, mine specifically focused on sustainable agriculture issues and
we sought to build a sustainable agriculture system to help inform the community
about ways to help and the issue its self.
Austin Global Studies Costa Rica Trip (7 hrs a day /5 days)
Worked with the Bri-Bri Indian Tribe, an indigenous people to Costa Rica, on
sustainable living and recycling efforts
Coats for Kids (5 hours/1 week per year) 2010-2014
Helped with citywide campaign of Coats for Kids. Duties include promoting, sorting
and distribution of coats
Elisabeth Ann Seton Board Event (5 hours/annually), 2012-2014
Helped set up charity event to raise money benefiting the Seton Community Health
Centers and the Sister Gertrude Levy Endowment for the poor, a permanent
endowment that helps sustain the long-term growth and operations of the clinics for
years to come.
Helping Hand Home, (5 hours) 2010-2014
Volunteered time and helped raise money for the benefit of the Helping Hand Home,
a place that provides a nurturing and therapeutic home for children who have
suffered severe abuse and neglect
