PARISH BULLETIN April 5th, 2015 EASTER SUNDAY

THEME FOR HOLY WEEK March 29 April 5
Living Lent with passion: the meaning of the cross
The cross was an instrument of suffering and death. The cross IS now an instrument of salvation. The suffering, death
and resurrection of Christ transformed the cross to be a sign of hope. Many people around us suffer, often it goes
unnoticed. People who experience suffering need hope and compassion. Have you ignored the suffering of
someone? What will you do to ease suffering in our midst or around the world?
THE TRIDUUM
The Triduum is a beautiful Liturgy, spanning three days, Holy Thursday to the Easter Vigil. Each segment of this one
great liturgy touches on a different dimension of the saving work of Jesus. You are invited to live the Triduum with
passion, taking part in the full liturgy. This year we are trying something new. Come and experience it with passion.
FR. JOHNS WEBNOTES APRIL 5TH - Easter Sunday
This is the culmination of the Gospel, it is the Good News par excellence: Jesus, who was crucified, is risen! This
event is the basis of our faith and our hope. If Christ were not raised, Christianity would lose its very meaning; the
whole mission of the Church would lose its impulse, for this is the point from which it first set out and continues to set
out ever anew. The message which Christians bring to the world is this: Jesus, Love incarnate, died on the cross for
our sins, but God the Father raised him and made him the Lord of life and death. In Jesus, love has triumphed over
hatred, mercy over sinfulness, goodness over evil, truth over falsehood, life over death.
Pope Francis
Urbi Orbi Easter 2014
Most people, all people are searching for something. Some may not know what they are looking for, but we do. Like
Mary Magdalen at the tomb, we are looking for the Lord. We will and we have found him. we have found the Lord and
we celebrate with him from one Sunday to the next. This Sunday is a special day of joy. So are all the Sundays we
celebrate, when we listen to Gods Word and break bread with one another, the risen Lord is with us. The joy of our
celebration helps us to be rooted in joy, even in the moments of trial. We have joy because we have hope.
