Department

of Alcoholic Beverage Control

The Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control is continually looking for volunteers to
participate in our minor decoy and shoulder tap operations. Volunteering is a great way to learn
about our Department and learn firsthand about one of the many programs our Department
conducts to reduce the sales and service of alcoholic beverages to minors.
DECOY REQUIREMENTS:

Decoys must be under 21 years of age and shall display the appearance which could
generally be expected of a person under 21 years of age
Males decoys cannot have facial hair
Female decoys should not wear excessive make up or jewelry
No visible facial piercings or tattoos
Have no criminal convictions (a records check will be conducted on decoy volunteers)
Be available to testify in court and/or administrative hearings
Decoy and shoulder tap operations are scheduled as needed throughout the year. We
will compile a list of interested students and contact you when an operation is being
planned to see if you are able to work with us.

If you are interested in volunteering or would like additional information about the decoy and
shoulder tap operations, or would just like to learn more about our Department and career
opportunities, call me at 916-928-2160 or send email to Elden.Shepherd@ABC.CA.GOV
