Describe how you would Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing Opportunity
in your classroom: I would use this publishing opportunity to allow my students to
read other students poetry and possibly publish their own on the website. They
could explore the website and look at the different types of poetry as well as the
different categories of poetry. I could also have the students have a little fun and
try the tongue twisters on the website.
What technologies would be required to implement this proposed learning activity
in a classroom? We would need computers for each kid; we could go to the
computer lab. If our school provided it, each student could use their own IPad. We
could also look at the website as a class on the carpet using the SmartBoard.
Describe how the following features are addressed in this learning experience
(note: all of them may not be addressed in the project, but most should be if you
are reaching a high LoTi Level.):
a. Collaboration with peers, near-peers, mentors outside their classroom
and often beyond their school: Students read and rate other students
work and publish some of their own work for other students to read.
b. Student-centered learning and knowledge creation (collecting original
data and or producing original products as a result of engaging in the
project): Students have the opportunity to explore other students
work and creating their own piece of poetry for the website.
c. Higher-order thinking: Students will have to think of a topic and then
create their own piece of poetry for the website.
d. Students publishing their original work to others who will use/care
about their product: Students will publish their own original work to
the website so other students or teachers can see them and possibly
use them in their classroom.
