    Josh Petty is taking four online classes this semester while also substitute teaching. He is struggling to balance the time commitments of his coursework and substitute teaching. For his ETT 535 class, Petty completed a group case study assignment with his group members by dividing responsibilities.     Thefirstcoupleofweeksofthefallsemesterhavebeenextremelybusy.Mygoal
    ofbecomingafulltimeteacherhasnotworkedoutasplannedforthelast3.5years,
    whichiswhyImtakingclassesagainnow.Imstilltryingtosubasmuchaspossible,
    becauseIcouldusetheincome,butImalsocurrentlytakingfourclassesatthesame
    time.Currently,ImfightingthebattleofhowmuchdoIneedtheincomevs.how
    muchtimedoIneedtogetmyhomeworkassignmentscompleted.Imnotbehindon
    anything,byanymeans,butImalsowishingthatIwasalittlefurtheraheadwithallof
    myclasses.
    ForETT535,theonlyassignmentthatIvehadthusfaristhegroupcasestudy
    assignment.Iamapartofgroup1soourassignmenthasalreadybeencompletedand
    handedin.Wearenowinthediscussionstageofthisassignment.TheresourcesthatI
    usedtocompletethisassignmentwerethetextbook,mygroupmembers(Heoncheol
    YunandKristineMutchler),andMrs.KellyHoagland.KellyiscurrentlyaK8computer
    teacheratMontmorencyGradeSchoolinRockFalls,IL.Ifoundhertobeagood
    resourcebecauseshehasgonethroughmultiplesituationssimilartothepersoninour
    casestudy
    Forthisassignment,thegoalforwassimplytodomypartwithinthegroup,
    completetheassignmentontime,andcompletetheassignmentcorrectly.Ifallofthose
    conditionsweremet,andIthinkthattheywere,weshoulddoprettywellonthis
    assignmentoverall.Asagroup,Ithinkwecommunicatedverywellanddidanicejob
    dividinguptheresponsibilityforthisproject.
    Overallthissemester,Ivehadafewstrugglesorconflicts.Thefirstone,asI
    mentionedinmyfirstparagraphhastodowithtime.HowmuchtimedoIsetasidefor
    substituteteacherandhowmuchtimedoIsetforhomework?Istillhaveyettofindthat
    healthybalance.ThenextstruggleIvehadtodealwithismotivationtoactuallysitdown
    andworkonschoolwork.Ivefounditdifficultattimestositdownanddohomework
    whenIcouldbedoingsomethingelsearoundthehouse.Withmetakingfourcourses
    currently,allmostlyonline,Ihavealotofworktodoonmyowntime.Thelastconflict
    thatIhavehadthusfaristhatIfindtextbookmaterialtobealittledryandboring.Thats
    notnecessarilyaknockonthisbookorauthor,butjusttextbooksingeneral.
    Asforthestructureofthisclass,Idontthinkthatithasneitherhelped,nor
    impeded,myoverallparticipation.Withourpresentationbeingagroupproject,Idont

    thinktheformatoftheclasswouldvechangedthewaythatIcommunicatedwithmy
    grouporcompletedanyofthecoursework.Whetheritwasaregular,fulltimefaceto
    faceclass,oraclasswiththeformatthatwerecurrentlyusing,IthinkIwouldvedone
    everythingthesame.
