Personal Statement

My interest in Computer/ Electrical Engineering began when I was a freshman in high

school. I was chosen to attend a computer engineering convention with my computer
applications teacher and with the Center for Advanced Technology magnet at my high school. It
was there where I spoke with numerous computer and electrical engineers about what they did,
how they enjoyed what they did, and the demand for computer/electrical engineers. After this trip
and my time being in that class, I became captivated with becoming an Engineer.
I began my study of Electrical Engineering at Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical
University. As a student in Alabama A&Ms College of Engineering, Technology, and Physical
Sciences, I took both an Introduction to Electrical Engineering and an Introduction to
Programming (C++). Also while at Alabama A&M, I became a research assistant under Alabama
A&M and the Department of Homeland Security. These influences gave me a better idea of the
Electrical and Computer Engineering and gave me hands on experience with the research portion
in the field. With great appreciation towards these influences, I am now for sure that I want to
further my studies in Electrical Engineering.
After my matriculation ends at Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University, I would
like to further my studies in Electrical Engineering at a graduate level program where I can
receive more information and experience in this field. The University of California- Berkley is
the perfect option where I can continue my studies because it is one of the top ranked graduate
studies program in Electrical Engineering. Furthermore, I would like to attend this institution for
my graduate studies because California is a place where I would love to start my career as a
computer hardware engineer.
After completing my Masters Degree at the University of California-Berkley, I plan to
obtain my Doctor of Philosophy degree in Electrical Engineering. After obtaining my PhD, I plan

to continue my career in research and as a computer hardware engineer. In conclusion, a masters

degree from the University of California-Berkleys Electrical Engineering Program is the next
step toward reaching my academic and career goals.
