Course Objective: To provide an overview of genetics. Mendelian genetics will be emphasized.
The molecular basis of bacterial, viral and eukaryotic genetics will be introduced.

Grading: 10% Midterm 1, 15% Midterm 2, 35% Final, 40% Laboratory. In order to pass the
course you must achieve at least 16% of final course grade from laboratory assignments.
Study hints: 1) Come to lecture! This is the most efficient way for you to see the material on
which you will be examined. 2) Engage in active learning during lecture. Think of it as 3 hours
of genetics study each week. 3) Study frequently and regularly. This will enable you to keep up
with, and understand, the terms and concepts that are sequentially built upon during the course.
