When performing a back hand it is not necessary to


step your lead leg out laterally.

Before performing a back hand a player must leave


ready position (body/toes facing the net) and turn
laterally so the shoulder of the arm holding the
racquet is now pointed at the net and the body/toes
are faced toward the sidelines.
