BOLIVIA & PER

Very cold due to altitude. Rainy season between November and March.
Very cheap. 1 USD = 6.90 Bolivians & 2.71 Peruvian Soles. Expenses are
approximately 15-20 USD/day.
BOLIVIA:
La Paz:
Nice excursion to Coroico jungle, Valle de la Luna, El Mirador(?)
Take care of personal stuff at hostels.
Go to a Chola fight.
Copacabana (Titicaca Lake):
From La Paz, bus is 30 Bolivians, 2:30 hours.
Baslica where natives were converted.
Camping is nice but it might hail, although very tiny rocks.
Tiahuanaco Ruins.
Isla del Sol: camp at Northern side, 45 minutes after regular camp site (-15.990416,69.194362) beside platforms a couple of days, ruins in the North tip. Better to take
food and water from Copacabana.
Optional:
Oruro: mines where you can buy TNT and blow stone. Bus from La Paz 3 hours.
Uyuni: big salt place. Train from Oruro 3 times a week.
Potosi: nice, colonial place.

Bolivians.

Machu Picchu & Inka Trail:
Alternative 1: Train from Cuzco to Machu Picchu, old people, no fun.
Alternative 2: Bus to Santa Teresa, train to Aguas Calientes, then walk on rails half
day to Machu Picchu.
Alternative 3: Salkantay trek, 5 day walk from Cuzco to Machu Picchu with no ruins,
boring.
Alternative 4: Inka Trail short, 1 day walk, 1 night camp, another short walk to Aguas
Calientes, train to Machu Picchu. Same price as Alternative 5, not worth it.
Alternative 5: Inka Trail long, 4 day walk, 3 nights, from Cuzco to Machu Picchu. See
all the ruins (different towns) get up to 4200 meters above sea level.
Alternatives 4 & 5 include tents, food, water, tickets, etc.

Lima:
Avoid ugly downtown. Best towns are Miraflores, Barranquillo, Chorrillos, San Borja,
nicest beaches. Avoid taxi drivers trying to take you to other hotels.
Best hostel in Miraflores town, ovalo 2 (rotonda), $7,5 Soles
