Carmelita Yadao-Sison, Director IV, CHED Legal and Legislative Service and Chairperson, GAD Focal Point Committee, regarding the conduct of public orientation on the CHED Memorandum Order (CMO) on establishing the policies and guidelines on Gender and Development in the Commission on Higher Education ‘and Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to be spearheaded by the GAD Focal Point Committee of the CHED Central Office in coordination with the CHED Regional Office Vil For the HEls and other stakeholders based on Regions VI, Vil, and Vil, said orientation will be held on April 27-28, 2015, Monday to Tuesday, at the Crown Regency Suites Mactan, Maxino Patalinhug Jr. Avenue, Lapu-Lapu City, exclusive of travel time. The CEB likewise approved the conduct of a series of public orientations to be spearheaded by the GAD Focal Point Committee of the Central Office in coordination with the concerned CHED Regional Offices ‘The series of public orientation will have the following objectives: 1) Orient the stakeholders of higher education about CHED Memorandum Order 1, series of 2015 on GAD for CHED and HEIs in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao; * 2) Increase the capacity of HEls to carry out their role in advancing gender and development in all areas of their institutions’ programs, prejects and activities; and 3) Address the issues and concems of the HEls regarding the CMO on GAD. For the HEIs and other stakeholders based in Regions VI, Vil, and Vill, the public orientation will be held on April 27-28, 2015, Monday to Tuesday, at the Crown Regency Suites Mactan, Maximo Patalinhug Jr., Avenue, Lapu-Lapu City, exclusive of travel time. In this regard, the CHED Regional Directors of Regions VI, Vil, and Vill are requested to issue a memorandum to identified HEI participants (‘., recognized colleges and universities including SUCs and selected LUCs in their regions) and ensure their presence during the public orientation The GAD Focal Point person/s of the host regions are required to closely coordinate with the Central Office GAD secretariat through Ms. Jocelyn 8. Balanag and Ms, Marife P. Flores at telephone number (02) 988-0002 to inform them of the names of actual participants by Friday, April 17, 2015. Only snacks, lunch, and materials needed for the two-day orientation of the participating HEIs shall be charged to the CHED Central Office GAD funds. Travelling and accommodation expenses are to be shouldered by the participating HEIs. Travel, food, accommodation, and other expenses of the regional GAD Focal Persons and other CHEDRO attendees are chargeable against their local GAD funds, while those of the designated CHED officials, GAD Committee secretariat and resource persons are chargeable against Central Office GAD funds.
