thattheyareexperiencingafewchangesthroughout.PriortothedeathofFrancotourists were
much wealthier, had more liberal attitudes toward sex, less religious, and felt free to criticize
things, including the Spanish government (Cultural Changes in Spain). To this day, Spaniards
and tourists look very much alike; tend to drive the same types of cars, and talk alike, using more
of the English language as their primary language. As I previously mentioned, it seemed as
though individuals were a lot less religious under Francos government. When Franco took
power he converted Spain into the past (Francos Spain, 2000). They were not allowed to
practice their traditions; instead they were forced to practice only Roman Catholicism. Below is
a chart that shows the evolution of the age in which religious and civil marriages occurred. This
chart shows how numbers have increased since the death of Franco in 1975. By analyzing the
chart below, one may conclude that after his death, individuals became more religious as the

years passed. On other words, individuals no longer felt the need to criticize things, including
the Spanish government (cultural Changes in Spain).

AninterestingthingaboutSpainisthe variety of cultures within, which derives from the 17

regions located in the country and the lands physical features, such as the mountains that rest in
Spain. Mountains create natural barriers that inhibit the spread of ideas from place to place.
One good example of this is the many languages found throughout the country. Though the
countrys official language may be Castilian Spanish there are other predominant languages
such as Euskara, Gallego, and now, English (Anonymous, 2011). These languages still exist
because of the separation that the mountains create between the different regions that dont
allow for the introduction of new languages and the pollution and lost of the current language
of the people in the different regions. The country of Spain has experienced many changes in
their cultural diversity, especially within these last 50 years.
