Volume 9, Issue 1

Directors Notes
This spring we are lucky to be having three great author/
illustrator events for children at the library. Inspire your
children to read and write great stories of their own!
There will be books available for purchase at all 3 events.
Signed books make great presents.
On Tuesday, March 24th at 6:30 pm illustrator Lee Harper will
be at the library. This program is best for school aged
children or anyone who loves to draw. Lee will talk about
everything thats involved in writing and illustrating a picture
book. Then Lee will draw a few of his charactersbooks. After
that comes the part the kids love best... DRAWING!! Each
child creates their own version of one of his characters as he
leads them step-by-step.
Local author, Daniele Carnesalli, will do a special storytime
at the library on Tuesday, April 7th at 6:30 pm for families.
This storytime will feature her two new books The Legend of
Falling Rock: A Fathers Folktale and You Are Mine. Come
hear Daniele read her stories and make a craft. Daniele will
be selling and signing copies of her books.
On Thursday, May 14th at 6:30 pm author Mara Rockli will
visit the library. This program is great for students in grades
2 - 5. This program is based o of Maras bestselling chapter
book series The Milo and Jazz Mysteries written under the
pen name Lewis Montgomery. Children will learn that
writing a mystery (or anything else!) is just like solving one.
Mara has, also, published several childrens books under her
own name.

Dr. Seuss

Read Across America is a nationwide

reading celebration held on
March 2nd -- Dr. Seusss birthday.
The books of Dr Seuss have sold over
222 million copies and have been
translated into 15 languages.
The word 'nerd' rst appeared in one

glasses, but a small creature from
the land of Ka-Troo.

Harper Lee will be releasing Go Set a Watchman in July of 2015. Originally written in the mid-1950s,
Go Set a Watchman was the novel Harper Lee rst submitted to her publishers before To Kill a
Mockingbird. Assumed to have been lost, the manuscript was discovered in late 2014.
Go Set a Watchman takes place twenty years after To Kill a Mockingbird.
Returning home to Maycomb to visit her father, Jean Louise Finch
Scoutstruggles with issues both personal and political, involving
Atticus, society, and the small Alabama town that shaped her.

Until I feared I would lose it, I never loved to read. One does not love breathing.
