The Narwhal

Climate and Ecosystem


Narwhals are found in the Atlantic Ocean and
Bering Sea. They are known to
migrate to the Greenland coast.
They live around squid and fish
like Pollick. They have a mostly
cold sea floor.

The narwhals appearance


The Narwhals tusks have no evidence on what
they are used for. The hypothesis is they are
used to communicate or tackle food. The
narwhals look like a black and grey rock in the
shape of a whale
with a big spirling tusk
sprouting from its forehead.

Life Cycle
A narwhal can live between 40-30 years they
normally die because they are hunted by inuit
people for their skin oil meat and tusks.
Females are ready to reproduce at 5 years old
but males are ready to produce at 8 years old a
female usually gives birth about every 3 years
calves are born in mid July the next year after
a 15 month gestation period.

Life Cycle 2
At birth the calves are about 15 feet long and
nurse for about a year but will stay with its
mother for 20 months.

Diet
The Narwhal eats squid and fish such as
cuddlefish. It is a mystery
if the Narwhal eats

has increased and then decreased drastically.
This has caused many problems for the
Narwhals including being crushed.
