THE HEN AND

HER SIX LITTLE

CHICKS

Once, there lived a hen

named Henny and her six
little chicks.
One day she found some
grains of wheat and asked,
Who will help me plant
this wheat?

Not I, said the duck.

Not I, said the bird.
Not I, said the cat.
Not I, said the cow.
Then my six little chicks
and I will, said Henny.

After some time, the

plant grew healthily and
had long stalks of wheat.
The wheat ripened and
was ready to be
harvested.

Who will help me harvest

the wheat grain? asked
Henny

Not I, said the duck.

Not I, said the bird.
Not I, said the cat.
Not I, said the cow.
So Henny and her six
little chicks harvested the
wheat grain.

After that, they took the

grain to the miller to
grind. They then brought
home the fine white flour.

Who will help me bake a

cake? asked Henny.

Not I, said the duck.

Not I, said the bird.
Not I, said the cat.
Not I, said the cow.
So Henny and her six
little chicks baked the
wheat grain.

When the cake was ready,

Henny asked, Who will
help me to eat this cake?

I will, said the duck.

I will, said the bird.
I will, said the cat.
I will, said the cow.
Oh no, you wont, said
Henny.
My six little chicks and I
have done all the work. So
we will eat the cake.
