Welcome to Lehman
Jackson Elementary!
My name is Ms. Janine
Mitkus and I will be your
childs first grade teacher
for the 2015/2016 school
year. This is my second
year teaching at Lehman
Jackson Elementary and
my first year teaching
first grade.
My time outside of the
classroom includes spending time with my family,
exercising, and teaching
gymnastics.

About Our Class

We currently have 26
students in our class
this year. Our class will
follow a six day schedule
along with the entire
elementary school.
Each day school will
begin at 8:15am. We will
begin the day by reading
our book of the week in
circle time. Our reading
lesson will follow. Students will later engage
in early morning math
activities, including a
review of the prior days
homework assignment.

I am looking forward to a
great school year!

Classroom 1-B

Student will move to their

special for the day (Music,
Art, Computers, or Gym)
at 10:50am, followed by
lunch at 11:45am.
The remainder of the day
will be spent at recess and
covering our science and
social studies lesson.
School dismissal is at
2:45pm.

What will we learn this month?

Reading: We will read four books chosen for the month. Our
first book is The Night Before First Grade..
Math: We will review kindergarten math concepts to prepare
for first grade level concepts.
Science: We will learn about weather and climate.
Social Studies: We will learn about the continents and states.
