    deadliest of the year. It effected the Greater Antilles, Eastern United
    States, Bermuda, Bahamas, and Eastern Canada. Sandy developed in
    the Caribbean Sea, into a category 1 hurricane. Hurricanes can only for
    where there is moist air and heat over the ocean. Winds blow across the
    ocean, toward each other, and collide in convergence. When the air
    collides, it forms an updraft. Cumulonimbus clouds develop and
    thunderstorms form. These thunderstorms gather together and begin to
    swirl into a vortex until creating a tropical storm. Hurricane Sandy was
    held responsible for 117 deaths inthe United States alone anddamaging
    200,000 homes. It was the second most damaging hurricane in the US,
    financially. Hurricane Katrina took first place but Sandys costs were
    estimatedmorethan$50Billion.
