To Whom It May Concern:

I have had the pleasure to work with Miss Jana Cohen as my ESP Mentee during the 2014/2015 school year. Her
positive influence on the classroom atmosphere, learning experience of her students, as well as the school, and team
were remarkable.

Jana is an intelligent and motivated individual. She has an innate love for teaching and was clearly meant to be in a
classroom. She did an amazing job of showcasing her professionalism, planning creatively, communicating with
parents, maintaining individual education plans and personal behavior plans while facilitating relationships with
students, and colleagues. Her classroom management yields a positive approach, and is beyond her years. Having
Jana join the 2nd grade team at Hidden Oaks benefited the students learning environment in a most positive way.
Jana demonstrated an exemplary global understanding of the standards, management, multitasking, with-it-ness,
organization, involvement, and planning necessary to build a remarkable career on the path to being a difference
maker in education.
Jana has participated in SBT and IEP meetings, participated in implementing iii services, as well as progress
monitoring throughout the RTI process this year. She has been trained on and completed Reading Running
Records, received hands on training on implementing both Reading and Writing Workshop models, as well as
CHAMPS and SWPBIS. Jana went above and beyond, getting involved in our tutoring program, committees,
Parent Information Nights, as well as various volunteer opportunities. She has shown expertise in creating
assessments, always communicated reflective thoughts on her teaching and planning, utilized the new report card,
including performance codes and is familiar with giving specific feedback. She has implemented the DQs of
Marazano with ease and fluidity.
I believe that she would be an asset to any staff. The positive effects on her students were so evident, as they lit up
when they get to meet with her in small groups or conferences. She has built a true bond with her students that they
will never forget. We will miss Miss Cohen as she moves on to her next adventure and embarks on her educational
journey. I hope you dont miss out on the opportunity for your students and staff to benefit from everything she has to
offer.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Shannon B.
