What is oppression? What are it mechanisms and its effects? Who are its victims and perpetrators? What role do you and I play
in it? How do the oppressed fight back and what does it do to their perspective on the world? We will explore these questions
and many more from a literary, historical, and anthropological perspective. We will also improve as writers through peer editing,
classroom exercises, and fair amount of practice. Sharpen your minds and your pencils!
Note: The 25/50 rule is in effect. If you are absent 1 for more than 25% of classes you will receive a grade of fail which can
be appealed to the administrative group in writing by your parents. If you are absent or tardy 2 from a sum total of half the
classes you will receive a grade of fail.
1 Absence is defined as being more than thirty minutes late to any class.
2 Tardy is defined as being less than thirty minutes to any class.
