My Philosophy of

I believe:
That students need to know and understand their place in
the world as a part of a community, a government and
humanity
That teachers should provide students with the gains of
knowledge that are necessary to make informed and
educated decisions for the overall good of society
That teachers need to apply every lesson to a real world
context that is readily accessible
That teachers need to empower their students to
understand their rights and responsibilities as a citizen and
member of a bigger world
That students must learn to consider multiple perspectives
before making personal decisions
That teachers must never fear to teach students about
controversial content areas
That teachers must teach social studies in a way that is
meaningful, integrative and valued based, challenging and
active
Teachers must promote civic responsibilities in each
student
