Geometry in the real

world
Kyle Bellamy

Point

In the geometry world a point is a dot that is always labeled with a

capital letter. One example in the geometry world is a picture of a
basketball and notice how the basketball is label.

line

A line is a straight path that has no thickness and extend forever. In the
geometry book the postulate 1-1-1 it states that through any two points there
is exactly one line. A real world example of a line is a railroad and the reasons
I pick this is because railroads extends forever.

Plane

A plane is a flat surface that has no thickness and extends forever. A real
world example is a basketball court cause it has a flat surface. The postulates
of a plane is through any three noncollinear points there is exactly one points
lie the plane.

Segment

A segment or line segment is the part of a line consisting

of two points and all points between them. A real world
Example is a car and the reason why because the car has
two end points.

Ray

A ray is a part of a line that starts at an endpoint and extend forever in one
direction. A geometry real world example of a ray is a end of a road cause it
can only go one way.

Collinear points

A collinear point is a point that lie on the same line and a real world example
of a collinear point is a electric pole as it has the point on the same line.

Acute angle

An Acute angle is a angle that is less then 90 degree. The postulate of a acute
angle is if S is in the interior of < PQR then m< PQS + m<SQR= m<PQR. A real
world example of a Acute angle is a little girl legs as it is in a acute angle.

Obtuse angle

An Obtuse angle is more than 90 degree and less than 180 degrees. The
postulate of obtuse angles is if S is in the interior of < PQR then m< PQS +
m<SQR= m<PQR. A real world example of obtuse angle is a snake mouth as
you see its mouth wide open.

Right angle

An right angle is a angle that is equal to 90 degrees. The postulate for right
angle is if S is in the interior of < PQR then m< PQS + m<SQR= m<PQR. A real
world example of a right angle is a picture of the London bridge as the
picture has a right angle.

Perpendicular lines

Perpendicular lines are Two lines that intersect to form a 90 angle. plane. An
imaginary, perfectly flat surface with no thickness that extends endlessly in
all directions. Three non-linear points or two intersecting lines define the
location of a plane. A real world example of a perpendicular line is a electric
pole as the two lines intersect.

Complementary angle

Complementary angle are two angles whose measure have a sum of 90

degree. A real world example of a complementary is a clock as the hands on
the clock is the sum of 90.

Supplementary angle

Supplementary angle are two angles whose measure have a sum of 180
degree. A real world example of a supplementary angle is rocks the is the sum
of 180 degree.
