TRAINING: STEP ONE


The puppies spend a year in the homes of the
puppy-raising families.
Here they learn basic training- good house
behaviors, and are exposed to diff erent
environments

TRAINING: STEP TWO


The puppies go through a series of
training- obedience training, directional
turns, negotiating obstacles, light city
work, and street crossings.

TRAINING: STEP THREE

At week ten
of the
training, the
puppies go
through
traffi c
training.

AFTER TRAINING
After the dog is
trained, the
instructors teach
the owners how
to work with the
dogs in a fourweek training
class

ACTIVITY
The next slide has description of four potential seeing
eye dogs.
Read their descriptions and decide which dog would
be the best candidate to be trained to be a seeing
eye dog.
The dog has to have all of the characteristics
mentioned on the other slides.
Once you and your tablemates make a decision,
please write your answer down in your journals and
explain why you chose that specifi c dog.
