Grade 7
45 Minute Class Period (9:45-10:30)
Crusades Webquest
Lesson Objectives:
1. SWBAT will identify the causes and effects of the Crusades by looking at a variety of
primary and secondary sources.
2. SWBAT make inferences based on the resources in the webquest to draw their own
conclusions.
3. SWBAT examine a map and artwork and make inferences based on them.
4. SWBAT navigate a webquest by using google slides.
Common Core Standards:
1. CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RH.6-8.1: Cite specific textual evidence to support analysis of
primary and secondary sources.
2. CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RH.6-8.7: Integrate visual information (e.g., in charts, graphs,
photographs, videos, or maps) with other information in print and digital texts.
3. CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RH.6-8.6: Identify aspects of a text that reveal an author's point of
view or purpose.
Materials:
1. Computers (Each student should have their own)
2. Webquest found on Google Slides (Students can access this is their Google Classroom)
Daily Plan:
(9:45- 9:52) Introduction
Teacher will ask the class what they know about the Palestinian-Israeli relationship today.
o This will segway into the history of the disputes over this land (the webquest)
Teacher will explain to students what their task is for the day.
o Students will be instructed that in a few minutes they will go to a computer and
open up the Crusades Webquest which can be found in their Google Classroom.
o Students will be working on this webquest individually.
As a whole class students will watch the 3 minute video found at
http://www.history.com/topics/crusades.
(9:53-9:54)
Teachers will instruct students to go to individual computers and open the webquest.
o Teacher should remind students that they are working individually and quietly.
(9:55-10:25)
Students will work independently at their own pace on the webquest.
o Students will follow the steps clearly listed within the webquest.
Teacher will inform the students that they have until 10:25 (30 minutes) to complete the
webquest.
When finished, students will share their responses with Mrs. McMunn
