    The Oriental Mindoro Debate Society is organizing the MaHalTa Cup V debate tournament from January 10-14, 2015 using the Asian Parliamentary debate format. The tournament is open to higher education institutions in the MIMAROPA region and aims to have 40 teams and 160 participants debating the theme of "Translate Visions into Reality". Regular participants include schools from Oriental Mindoro as well as one observer school from Marinduque province. The goal is also to expand the debating network in the region and potentially form a MIMAROPA Debate Society. The tournament will be held at venues in Mindoro State College of Agriculture and Technology.

    Project Description:
    The Oriental Mindoro Debate Society (OMDS), the official debating bloc
    of Oriental Mindoro, in cooperation with Mindoro State College of Agriculture
    and Technology and through the aid of the Provincial Government of Oriental
    Mindoro (PGOM) will launch a MIMAROPA Debate Tournament this academic
    year 2014-2015. This project is basically designed for students from Higher
    Education Institutions (HEI) in MIMAROPA. This will be called as the MaHalTa
    Cup Vthe MIMAROPA Intercollegiate Debate Tournament 2015.

    Theme Translate Visions into Reality

    The MaHalTa Cup V refers to the five-day debate tournament (January


    10-14) using the Asian Parliamentary Format. Expected participants are the
    member schools of the Oriental Mindoro Debate Society who had actively
    participated already in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th MaHalTa Cup for the past four
    consecutive years. They are as follows:
    1. Saint Augustine Seminary (SAS)
    2. Divine Word College of Calapan (DWCC)
    3. Saint Anthony College (SAC)
    4. City College of Calapan (CCC)
    5. Clarendon College
    6. Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) Bansud
    7. ABADA College
    8. Ark of the Covenant M0ntessori Chamber of Learning College
    (ACMCL)
    9. MinSCAT Main campus
    10. MinSCAT Calapan City Campus
    11. Luna Goco College
    12. Maritime Institute
    13. Marinduque State College (Marinduque province) - observer in
    the 3rd MaHalTa Cup held at Divine Word College of Calapan
    Significantly, as much as we want to broaden our network of debaters,
    the tournament is still open to those institutions willing to join and eventually
    become members, for Oriental Mindoro, of the OMDS; while for the other
    three provinces, of their respective would-be debating societies; and the
    formation of MIMAROPAs united debate organization - MIMAROPA Debate
    Society.
    Target Date: January 10-14, 2015
    Target Venues: Mindoro State College of Agriculture and Technology

    Peoples Hall
    Expected No. of teams: 40
    Expected No. of participants: 160 pax
