I am pleased to recommend Karrie Tonhsay for admission to Westminster College. I have had the opportunity to work with Karrie over the past three years as her 11 th grade English, 12th grade U.S. government teacher, and 9th grade creative writing teacher. During this time I have been consistently impressed by her positive work ethic, dedication to improving as a student, and commitment to learning. I have encountered few students who work as hard as Karrie. She always puts maximum effort into each assignment and is not satisfied until her work represents her best effort. In English, she often works through multiple drafts of an essay or paper, seeking appropriate feedback from teachers and peers. Karrie then learns from that feedback and applies it to her papers. I saw far more improvement from her last year than any other student I have taught in 11 th grade English. This year, Karrie is also often in my room during my preparation period, studying chemistry with other students or working on an assignment for her University of Utah writing class. She invariably has a positive attitude and wants to get the most out of her education. As a student at an early college high school, Karrie has chosen to pursue a rigorous course of study. She is currently taking a number of classes offered on our campus through the University of Utah including writing 1010/2010, chemistry 1210 and math 1030. She has also taken a number of AP courses throughout her four years at AMES. Karrie is not afraid of challenging herself. Besides her academic commitments, she is engaged in a number of activities on campus including Interact, a community service group, and HOSA, our schools health occupations club. Karrie will undoubtedly work hard in college and be an exceptional addition to any freshman class. Please give her the most serious of consideration. Sincerely,
