during the revolutionary war. The second standard and indicators for the
unit are listed below:
Standard 3-1: The student will demonstrate an understanding of
places and regions in South Carolina and the role of human systems in the
state.
Indicators:
3-1.1: Categorize the six landform regions of South Carolinathe Blue
Ridge, the Piedmont, the Sand Hills, the Inner Coastal Plain, the Outer
Coastal Plain, and the Coastal Zoneaccording to their climate, physical
features, and natural resources.
3-1.3: Explain interactions between the people and the physical landscape
of South Carolina over time, including the effects on population distribution,
patterns of migration, access to natural resources, and economic
development.
My unit will focus primarily on indicators 3-3.4 and 3-3.5. I will actually
be teaching this entire portion of the unit because this is when I will be halftime and full-time teaching. This section of the unit mainly focuses on the
causes of the American Revolution, the different acts, the writing of the
Declaration of Independence, South Carolinians perspectives and roles
during this time period, important people during the Revolutionary war, the
establishment of state and national governments, and the structure of the
state government. This is section of the unit where students will gain the
most information about the Revolutionary War.
Standard 3-3: The student will demonstrate an understanding of the
American Revolution and South Carolinas role in the development of the
new American nation.
