Why is Rosa Parks a Person of


Nonviolent Civic Action?
On December 1 1955, after a long day of working as an assistant tailor at a
department store in Montgomery, Alabama, 42-year-old Rosa Parks refused to
obey bus driver James F. Blake's order to give up her seat in the colored
section to a white passenger, after the white section was filled. She was tired
and exhausted after a long day of working on her feet and wasnt going to give
up her seat for anyone. Though Rosa was a civil rights activists before this
encounter this event was by far the most acknowledged event in her life. This
action could have had serious repercussions, but instead was a break-through
in history. Rosa Parks was a woman who knew that her skin colour didnt
change her worth or value, and was not ready to accept that individuals with
white skin were at all better than her, both socially and economically.

Rosa parks was a vital woman in history.
She was a strong advocate for AfricanAmerican rights all over the world, and provided
people of colour with the courage to stand up
for themselves.
