My name is Bethany Wilson. I am a senior at the illustrious Claflin University in
Orangeburg, SC. Reminiscing on my educational journey; Ive realized just how many influential teachers Ive had through the years. They were always there to encourage and motivate me to get involved into activities I would benefit from. They made sure their class policies and instructions were strictly enforced. Relating my skills to those my teachers showed me, I will strictly base my philosophy on classroom management, motivation, and assessments. Classroom Management plays a colossal role in developing an effective learning environment for students. It could determine the success of each individual. Management in the classroom is being able to set certain standards for students to abide by. I will make it a priority to uphold classroom management as a future educator and make sure students understand the importance of a structured environment. Another aspect dealing with my philosophy of education is motivation. Motivating students to achieve and accomplish is a huge characteristic in succeeding. As a student growing up and having different teachers with different morals and ethics, I often gravitated to those who were nurturing. One never forgets the teachers who were willing to go the extra mile to see their students flourish. Motivating students could be the difference in them graduating or not graduating. My duty should be to motivate and submit to those students who are potentially capable of greater things but are unsure of what path to take. Motivation in my classroom is imperative. Lastly, assessing students to see their improvement and development is also an obligation to my future classroom. Assessments are important because it measures where the child stands in their learning abilities. This is especially important when trying to place students into advanced placement classes. I will distribute standardized test to see just how well my students are able to understand concepts and grasp material. Assessing how well my students learn is a very important factor in creating an effective learning environment. My classroom will be a beacon for knowledge. Classroom Management, Motivation, and Assessing students are going to be the sole focus in my teaching. These educational characteristics will in fact help my students in achieving and accomplishing goals.
