Dear Student,
This brief tutorial letter contains information about the format of the examination paper,
for the Oct/Nov 2014.

You have to study all the chapters in the text book as indicated in tutorial letter 102.
You have 2 hours to complete the paper.
As a university student you need to learn to extract the important information from all
information given. You are encouraged to use any strategy that works for you in
preparation for the forthcoming examination.

The examination consist of 6 questions.

Question 1 consists of 30 MCQs covering all chapters.

This rest of the examination paper consists of the short and long questions.
In addition to MCQs there are 5 questions with marks ranging from 5 marks to 35 marks
per question.
In this examination you are expected to display basic understanding of Object Oriented
Analysis and Design.
We assume that you covered the entire syllabus as you prepare for exam. Everything in
the syllabus is important.
In most of the questions you will be required to draw diagrams especially these that have
big marks.
It will help to understand all diagrams and their relationships as some diagrams develop
from others; as well as how to decompose some of the diagrams.
Pay attention to different types of class diagram and CRC cards.
Studying diagrams in the assignment would help to a certain degree, but it wont
be enough.
I suggest that in the discussion forum you discuss links between all diagrams.
For most questions, you will be given a narrative scenario that you should use to develop
any of the above.
Some questions assess your analysis, evaluation, comprehension and synthesis
competences, instead of reproduction of concepts.

NB: This is just a guidelines to the exam. Remember to

read all examinable chapters.
You have to study more than just the assignment questions, as they wont be sufficient
to pass the exam.
Remember to bring a pencil and eraser! Wish you all the best for your exam.
