Thursday Frances R. Aparicio is Professor in the Latin


American and Latino Studies Program at the
February 4, 2010 University of Illinois at Chicago, where she
is also University Scholar. She is author of
7:00 PM Listening to Salsa (1998) and co-editor of
Tropicalizations (1997), Musical Migrations
(2003) and Hibridismos culturales (2006).
Neilson Library She has published extensively on Latino
Studies as a field, on the politics of language
Reading Room among US Latino/as, on popular music and
Smith College gender, on Latino/a literature and on teaching
Spanish to heritage language learners. She
Reception to Follow is currently interviewing Latino/as in Chicago
Directions and Parking: who are of mixed Latin American national
