Who was the Greater Canadian?

Frank Stronach vs. Bertha Wilson

Introduction:

Bertha Wilson and Frank


Stronarch are both iconic
examples of notable Canadians
who overcame the odds to
become successful as well as
distinguished in their respective
fields.
This brief presentation intends to
compare some of the contributions
and achievements of both of these
iconic Canadians, and determine
who can be considered the
greater Canadian.

Bertha Wilson:

Frank Stronarch:

Immigrated to Canada
from Austria in 1955.
Opened his first shop in
the late 1950s
In 1969 merged his
small business with
Magna Electronics Corp.
From these humble
beginnings built his
business into an empire
worth $500 million by
1984, with over $500
billion in sales by 1995

Entered Dalhousing
University Law school at
the age of 31
Graduated with honors
in 1957
With hard work broke the
glass ceiling and made
partner at a law firm in
1968
Appointed to the Ontario
Court of Appeals in 1975
Appointed to Supreme
Court of Canada in 1982

Frank Stronarch:

Despite humble
beginnings as a
new immigrant to
Canada, through
hard work and
perseverance,
became a shining
example of a
Canadian success
story.

Bertha Wilson

As the first woman


appointed to the
Supreme Court of
Canada, paved the way
for other women to
break the glass ceiling,
and gave a voice to
Canadian women in
Parliament.

Conclusion :

Although businessman Frank Stronarch is


an prime example of a Canadian success
story, Bertha Wilson defied all odds to
rise to success as the first woman
appointed to the Supreme Court of
Canada.

Because this historical achievement


paved the way for other women to strive
for positions previously only occupied by
men, she can clearly be considered the
greater Canadian.
